Be afraid, for the mysterious Bohemian Underground Movement, purveyors of much varied pop art mischief, are active and know where you live !
This curious name derived from writing BUM across a Cornish beach for no apparent reason other than 'it was very silly and slightly rude'. Neither confused children, nor their bemused holiday-making parents, dared destroy the large lettering - which remained proudly and stubbornly intact throughout the day. Fate was deemed to have smiled upon the logo, history was made, B.U.M exists, music & literature would be mad.The first Bohemian Underground Movement track was recorded, as a joke, entirely over the phone from Cornwall. Mixed in the studio weeks later - 'I'm Afraid Of The Man In The Pasty Shop', featured on the Acid Jazz Records CD The New Testament Of Folk, a crazy and infectious sea shanty about fear of seasoned meat, root vegetables and egg glazed pastry.
Despite releasing many albums-worth of material, as yet no tracks have been released using the actual name Bohemian Underground Movement, an umbrella moniker under which every title has a new artist name; (the only exception being Wet Dog who released an album on Drumming Monkey Records). As a result of this cunning 'musical disguise' B.U.M may appear on a record many times, under several different names at once. When asked to comment on these bewildering antics a spokesman for the secretive organization remarked...
